The Blackjacks / Band
We play skiffle, rockabilly, country and our own original material, taking musical cues from the 1950's and lyrical cues from the mundanity of life in the 21st century. Through our music we aim to resurrect the raw energy of skiffle which took the UK by storm in the mid 1950's and infuse this with inflections of rockabilly, country and rock 'n' roll, with a desire to play authentically without the need to imitate. It has been described by Peter Donnegan as having a "really authentic 50's feel" and by vintage rock magazine as having "a vintage sound with a very modern twist". While we cannot specifically classify our style, we believe it brings a fresh avenue to the rockabilly scene with a quintessentially British feel.
